Another stunningly beautiful island devoid of luxury trappings – Carabao
Island is a tranquil sanctuary overshadowed by its more famous neighbor
– Boracay. If you fancy the outdoors and taking off-the-beaten path,
this island will surprise you with unspoiled natural attractions.
Escape the bustling city life and experience the raw appeal of Carabao
Island. From Caticlan, you can hop on a passenger boat to take you to
San Jose. Alternatively you can charter a boat to Lanas village from
Boracay.
Unlike the hedonistic Boracay, Carabao Island has managed to retain its
serenity. A visit here will let you experience the blissful bucolic
island life. Locals here thrive mainly on fishing and farming. Although
the main road in San Jose is paved, the streets outside the town proper
are bumpy. There is no jeep or tricycle in the island; motorcycles are
the main vehicles for getting around. Electricity runs from 1:00 PM to
11:00 PM and 4:00 AM to 6:00 AM only.
Discover diving at Village Reef and Village Mountain oozing with
kaleidoscopic corals and rainbow-hued fishes. Other dive sites which
beckons underwater photographers includes Cathedral Cave, known for its
massive underwater cave, Lobster Wall, West Wall I and II, and Devil’s
Shoulder.
